The 76ers won’t have an NBA All-Star for the first time in eight seasons. Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey were not among the players named as Eastern Conference All-Star reserves Thursday on TNT’s NBA Tip-Off show.

Star reserves who will make the trip to San Francisco to rep their respective teams in the All-Star game. The Philadelphia 76ers didn't have anybody named a starter this year--normally a spot reserved for Joel Embiid--so their only hope was to have Tyrese Maxey named a reserve.

At no point in the budding career of Tyrese Maxey has he been more consistent, and proof of that came on Saturday night when Maxey scored a game high 31 points in a 109-97 win over the Chicago Bulls. It was Philadelphia's second straight victory, and Maxey's tenth consecutive game with at least 25 points.

Maxey scored 43 points for the Sixers, who again played without All-Stars Joel Embiid and Paul George among others.

A big reason for the Sixers being able to turn things around a bit is the role players stepping up to help Tyrese Maxey get the job done. Eric Gordon, especially, has been fantastic. After shooting only 27.

Tyrese Maxey’s scoring prowess is drawing comparisons to some of the 76ers’ all-time greats. The point guard scored a game-high 43 points in Tuesday’s 118-104 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at the Wells Fargo Center.
