The deal will improve access for UK whisky and cars to the Indian market, and cut taxes on India's clothing and footwear exports.

Britian said Tuesday it has "secured the best deal [to which] India has ever agreed," and will provide "businesses with security and confidence to trade with the fastest-growing economy in the G20."

India and the UK agreed to a landmark trade deal slashing tariffs on cosmetics, vehicles, alcoholic beverages and other goods, as both sides look for wins to offset the disruption of President Donald Trump’s protectionist policies.
