New Jacksonville Jaguars coach Liam Coen wants players who play “through the echo of the whistle” and “on the edge.” It would be the kind of identity and mentality the woeful franchise has lacked for most of the past two decades.

Coen, the one-time UMass quarterback, was the architect of a gangbusters offense in Tampa Bay this year, and will look to do something similar around Trevor Lawrence.

For newly hired Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen, this fall won’t be the first instance of him standing on the sidelines as quarterback Trevor Lawrence plays a game. Back in 2014, Coen saw Lawrence play live as the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes hosted the Buford Wolves in the 4A Georgia High School Association Football State Semifinals.
