California Gov. Gavin Newsom embarked Tuesday on a two-day swing through rural South Carolina as the high-profile Democrat seeks to position himself as a leader for a party in rebuilding mode while simultaneously stoking fresh speculation about a potential 2028 presidential bid.

California Governor Gavin Newsom paid a visit to South Carolina as part of a Democratic Party initiative to spend time in rural parts of the country.

Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) appeared to reveal Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) ambitions for the White House while introducing him during a South Carolina visit. Newsom departed California on Monday for a two-day tour of South Carolina.
