A man thought to be a citizen of Bangladesh was arrested in India's financial capital Mumbai on Sunday and is considered the prime suspect in the stabbing of Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, police said.
The Mumbai Police on Sunday morning confirmed that the person arrested for allegedly attacking actor Saif Ali Khan is an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh. The accused, identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, entered the residence of the renowned actor with the intent to commit theft.

Mumbai police have reportedly arrested a prime suspect in Saif Ali Khan's attack case. During a press conference, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dixit Gedam stated that the prime accused is likely to be a Bangladeshi citizen as he didn't have any proper documents with him, reports NDTV.
Saif Ali Khan, who is currently in the hospital, was stabbed multiple times in the intervening night on Wednesday and Thursday this week. He sustained six injuries, including one near the spine. The actor had to undergo an emergency surgery. Doctors say he is “out of danger". He may be discharged from the hospital by Monday.
