In West Philadelphia where he was born and raised, now there’s a street called Will Smith Way. Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker and city leaders honored the Oscar and Grammy winner on Wednesday, renaming a street next to Smith's old high school.

Smith also gave a shout-out to one of his high school teachers, Brenda Brown, who gave him the nickname “Prince Charming” when he was one of her students. He added the word “fresh” to the nickname, becoming the Fresh Prince. “The name the Fresh Prince was coined in that building,” Smith said.

The “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” actor was given a hero’s welcome and the first key to the city issued by Mayor Cherelle Parker.
