Brandon Nimmo homered again, Juan Soto came through with a tiebreaking single and the New York Mets held off the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2.

After two consecutive duds, Peterson was once again excellent and lengthy in guiding the Mets to a series-clinching and well-played 3-2 victory over the Brewers in front of a loud, sellout crowd of 42,241 at Citi Field.

Peterson (6-4) went 6 2⁄3 innings and gave up two runs, five hits and three walks with four strikeouts. It was his first win since June 11, a shutout of the Nationals. Ryne Stanek and Edwin Diaz got the last seven outs, with Diaz collecting his 18th save.
