The tropical depression is expected to intensify into a stronger rotating system to become Tropical Storm Chantal by Saturday, forecasters said.

The storm isn’t a significant threat to land, but could drench parts of the Southeast and create risky beach conditions through the weekend.

Tropical Depression Three, which formed off Florida’s Atlantic coast, is forecasted to strengthen into a tropical storm later Saturday, the National Hurricane Center said.
