The newest installment in the “Jurassic World” franchise ruled the Fourth of July holiday box office with a global, five-day launch of $318.3 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The seventh installment in the action-adventure series created by Steven Spielberg opened well ahead of expectations over the long Fourth of July holiday in the U.S. - where it racked up $147.8 million - as well as overseas.

Hollywood dinosaur franchise reboot “Jurassic World Rebirth” charged into first place at the South Korean box office for the July 4–6 weekend, grossing $5.6 million from 804,654 admissions across 1,645 screens.
