Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested Israel might not withdraw all of its forces from Lebanon by a deadline set in its cease-fire with Hezbollah.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) -Israeli forces will remain in southern Lebanon beyond a 60-day deadline stipulated in a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah because its terms have not been fully implemented, the Israeli prime minister's office said on Friday.

Israel has said it is delaying the withdrawal of its troops from southern Lebanon, as it said Lebanon had not yet fully implemented its part of a ceasefire agreement. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said however that the gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops would continue in coordination with the United States.

The Israeli political leadership has reportedly instructed the IDF to maintain its presence in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon beyond the conclusion of the 60-day ceasefire trial period, which is set to end on Sunday.

Talks are set to begin with the Trump Administration about the presence of the troops that will remain in southern Lebanon.
