Police in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh on Saturday detained a second person suspected of involvement in a knife attack in which Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was wounded.

Indian Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was stabbed in a scuffle with an intruder at his Mumbai home and has undergone surgery at a hospital.

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was out of danger, police said on Thursday, following stab injuries received in a scuffle with an intruder at his home in India’s financial capital of Mumbai for which he was undergoing surgery.

The Mumbai police said crucial CCTV footage from a mobile shop in Dadar helped them identify the accused as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad.

DCP Zone 9 said, "Prima facie the accused is a Bangladeshi and after entering India illegally he changed his name. He was using Vijay Das as his current name. He came to Mumbai 5-6 months ago. He stayed in Mumbai for a few days and then in the vicinity of Mumbai. The accused used to work in a housekeeping agency."

Vijay Das, the prime accused, was arrested in a joint operation by DCP Zone-6 Navnath Dhavale's team and the Kasarvadavali police at a labour camp in Thane (W).
