Google buys part of HTC’s XR business for $250M
Google has agreed to acquire part of HTC's extended-reality (XR) business for $250 million, expanding its push into virtual and augmented reality hardware The deal involves transferring some of the HTC VIVE engineering staff to Google and granting non-exclusive IP rights.

Last month, Google introduced the Android XR platform in partnership with Samsung and Qualcomm, which is "a new operating system built for this next generation of computing". Now, Google has bought part of HTC Vive's engineering team, HTC Vive of course having ample experience engineering VR headsets.
HTC said it will sell part of its unit for extended reality (XR) headsets and glasses to Google for $250 million.
